Brad Haddin Attempts MS Dhoni’s Blind Run-Out Technique

There is no denying the fact that MS Dhoni is one of the best ‘currently active’ wicket-keepers in the world or even the best ever and his skills behind the stumps have helped him achieving numerous records throughout his career.

In Cricket, the first thing that fielders are taught is ‘how to receive a ball’. ‘Receiving’ is cricket’s version of shock absorbers and an answer to Newton’s third law. Needless to add, it is an essential skill for all wicketkeepers. From using his pads to block the ball, standing up for pace bowlers to standing back for spinners, Dhoni has done it all and has always been innovative.

Two of his best dismissals are the one in which he stood in front of the stumps and used his hands to give direction to the ball from through his legs, straight to the stumps and the other one being the ‘Blind Run Out’.

During the fourth ODI against New Zealand in October 2016, MS Dhoni gave us one of the best cricketing moments of the year when he collected the high return from Dhawal Kulkarni and displaced the bails even without looking at the wickets.

Here is that magical moment.

The blind run out by MS Dhoni caused butterflies in the stomach of wicket-keepers around the world as it was innovation at its best, defying all odds.

Although, nobody tried it since a long time and Australian wicketkeeper Brad Haddin had the guts to attempt this move during the ongoing Big Bash League match between Sydney Sixers and Adelaide Strikers. However, the The Sydney Sixers wicket-keeper failed to fetch a wicket.

And Man!! It was a close call.

Adelaide Strikers won the match by 48 runs and Sam Billings was the highest scorer for the team as he scored 40 runs off 30 balls before being caught and bowled by Chris Jordan. Sean Abbott became the Man of the Match for his five scalps after giving just 16 runs.
