Australia’s India Tour To Clash With T20I Against Sri Lanka

The Australian Cricket Team is facing an odd scenario in which they have to play a T20 International against Sri Lanka at home on 22nd February and then on the next day i.e. 23rd February the team is scheduled to play a Test match in India.  

The problem was somewhat expected as nowadays the schedule fixture of all Cricket playing nations are very tight due to the introduction of T20 Internationals and now Cricket Australia is scenario planning to solve this problem.

According to the Cricket Australia Officials, they did not anticipate the Border Gavaskar Trophy to overlap the last T20I against Sri Lanka and now it is hysterical to expect the team to play two matches simultaneously and that too on different continents.

The topic was raised by Chief Executive of Cricket Australia, James Sutherland at the ICC meeting held in January this year.

There were rumors that Cricket Australia will create a second team to participate in the Border Gavaskar Trophy and Pat Howard, the Australian Board’s manager has cemented the rumor and said “CA has always put test cricket as their main priority, which means that the team will play the test match in India and some other players will be given the option to play the last T20I against Sri Lanka.”

A similar kind of situation was tackled by the Australian Team in January 2016, when half of the Australian team left for One Day International series against New Zealand before the final T20 clash with India in Australia.
