Australia vs South Africa 1st Test, Day One Report

Australia and South Africa clashed on day one of the 1st test between the two teams at WACA stadium, Australia. South Africa won the toss and opted to bat first on the bouncy WACA Pitch. The visitors were all out at 242 and team Australia was at 105/0, David Warner (73* off 62) and Shaun Marsh (23* off 67), when the last session ended.

South Africa lost 4 wickets even before the first hour ended and no one expected that the team could give an respectable trail to the Australian team, but, South Africa’s most experienced test cricket batsman, Quinton de Kock played a combative 84 run innings on 101 balls to save the team from embarrassment.

Faf du Plessis (37 of 74) and Temba Bavuma (51 of 86) gave Quinton de Kock the required support that was needed to take the team to a considerable total. The wicketkeeper- batsman was their till the 60th over the innings which took the team to a total of 242 runs.

Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood were the star bowlers of the first day as they took 4 and 3 wickets respectively.

Australian Batsmen David Warner and Shaun Marsh came at the crease to start the Australian batting innings. Both the players were still present at the crease till stumps.

Australia has got a dream start in the first test match of the series but we can also not understate South Africa as the team has a tendency of a comeback in these kind of situations.
