When it comes to owning a pet, few other things or ideas can be as good as owning a dog. It’s one of the nicest and among the most amiable bonds that one could ever have. What do you think? Friends are easy to make but what about being friends with a dog? In popular culture, it is said, one may have the pleasure of having many friends- but only a few can have the unmatched joy of befriending a dog for life.
A dog, according to popular wisdom, is least likely to turn its back on you while just about any person may take you for a ride. Ever thought about that?
It’s an experience like no other and a feeling that fills the heart with endless joys. So, in case, you have a pet of your own already, you may want to increase or simply, extend the family. And if you do not own a pet already, you may want to begin now. For, the present is always a great place to start. What do you think?
That told, let’s quickly visit some of the famous dog breeds of 2024 that have got everyone talking. Here are 6 interesting dog breeds to own this year:
Bulldog
Cute, cuddly and easy to get along with, whether you own an American or a British Bulldog- it’s unbridled fun all the way. Among the important things about owning a dog such as this is that they are amongst the least pricky or troubling breeds. Spontaneous as well as adventurous, a Bulldog would like to play around as much as stick around the house without creating too much of a fuss.
When they are lazy, as is the case on more occasions than none, they’d simply warm up to you by keeping their head down in your lap instead of chasing a ball around in the yard.
The Doberman Pinscher
The biggest plus side of owning a Doberman is that it is supposed to be a fiercely loyal companion. They are a caring breed and would stick around no matter what. There’s this thin line of a difference between caring and being possessive that they will not tow. In fact, it is a devoted breed.
So isn’t that great?
Yet, at the same time, if you were to actually think about owning a Doberman Pinscher what might detract you from owning it would be its sheer imposing physicality. Not only is this dog strong and powerful, but can be a little intimidating. But while it may seem like a tough dog to own, once trained, a Doberman can be a fantastic dog breed to own.
The Basset Hound
If there could be a really cute dog bred to own, then it would have to be the Basset hound. A friendly dog that’s as outgoing as it is loving, the Basset Hound is as tolerant of other pets as it is of children- which is such a positive to have. With its cute face and pendulous ears, the Basset Hound is only growing in popularity around the globe.
And among the most delightful proofs of the Basset Hound’s popularity is its presence in a family portrait. Picture two little cute kids, momma and papa and a Basset Hound to complete the picture.
But that said, this rather expensive dog breed also demands a lot of medical care. Wondering how? If the Basset Hound’s ears- a perennial feature of its body- are allowed to drop onto the floor and come in contact with other objects on a regular basis, they may develop fatal infections. This can, therefore, be such a dampener.
The Dachshund
A pretty complicated but cute dog to own, the Dachshund can be a bit ferocious as a pet, but to other pets. Usually, a dog that would chase balls with great ferocity, this famous breed is likely to chase after small pets and other animals with great interest.
Lethargy, which can often be a cause of concern for different pet breeds, particularly for pets like Bulldogs, is seldom a concern here.
That said, even as cuteness and friendliness is not exactly a concern here for these dogs, what might prove to be an issue could be their playful nature. If they are really playful, they may not be too attentive to being trained. At the same time, another flipside may be the rather stubbornness of the nature of the dog. But they are not known to harm members of a family or those in its vanguard.
It’s best to make these pets familiar with as many close people or frequenters of a house as possible in order to avoid strangeness.
The Rottweiler
Now, here is a really interesting pet breed that’s only gaining popularity by the turning of the day. This is also an interesting case of a pet that even though seems aggressive and ferocious, makes for a good, loyal companion to its keeper (or master). While it is must for a Rottweiler to get training for it can lead to potentially dangerous behaviour (and even destruction), it’s also a handy breed in the context of the sheer concern it raises for the miscreants and other threatening forces.
If you own a Rottweiler as a pet, then, perhaps it’s always a great idea to ensure an outlet of socialisation for the dog. A dog that mixes and interacts with others is seldom a threat and can lead to amiable conversation and bond with others.
The Husky
Surely, that dog that you’d love to be clicked on an Insta with, isn’t it?
A really glorious and a good-looking dog, it’s hardly a surprise that even in 2024, the Husky has feature everywhere as among the most popular dog breeds to own. Whether it’s Siberian Husky or a Malamute, this is a breed that’s often jumping around and seen active. From a traditional standpoint, this is a dog that can be trusted to protect a group, having had a history of hunting in packs and preying in groups over other animals.
A dog with a great presence and personality, it may not be the cuddliest of pets to own, but among the important parts of the breed is its strong survival instinct. It is a caring and protective dog, owning which can a real delight.
