Toothpaste Without Fluoride Protects Your Teeth Less

Fluoride is neither toxic nor particularly dangerous. Rather, it protects your teeth from harmful substances and daily wear and tear. The rumors that have been circulating for some time, that fluoride is dangerous for humans, are based on a simple confusion between fluoride and fluorine.

Fluoride is understood to mean a negatively charged ion, which together with sodium becomes a simple salt. In dentistry, fluoride is used to protect your teeth from caries or tooth decay. In small amounts, like toothpaste, fluoride is harmless to your health. According to the toxicologists, in order for Fluoride to be harmful to your body, you would have to eat about 20 tubes of fluoride toothpaste.

Fluorine, on the other hand, is a toxic gas. The substance only becomes liquid at -180 degrees and can eat through all materials. Toothpaste without fluoride is, therefore, less effective for your dental health and cannot protect your teeth from tooth decay.

Fluoride is often used but sometimes is replaced by hydroxyapatite especially in kinds of toothpaste without the aforementioned chemical compound. Since there are no studies that the substance can prevent tooth decay, it has not been proven that hydroxyapatite has an effective effect on your dental health. If you still want to do without fluoride, then you should avoid eating the caries triggers such as sugar.

Fluoride fights the bacteria on the tooth surface that occurs on the natural biofilm of the teeth called the plaque. This bacteria breaks the carbohydrates from food and forms an acid that attacks your plaque on your teeth. Fluoride remineralizes your teeth by restoring the tooth surface and protecting it from acid.

It also inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria and tooth decay. It has a similar effect on the bones. Properly dosed, it can increase your bone density, making it more stable.

Fluoride Is Not Toxic

Toothpaste containing fluoride is not toxic contrary to the claim by people who oppose it. Rather, they serve to prevent tooth decay and can thus effectively protect your teeth against tooth decay.

One claim by opponents of fluoride is that fluoride is an industrial waste product. Toothpaste containing fluoride is a cheap solution for the industry to get rid of waste products. These claims are often baseless yet being contested.
