What are The Benefits of Pineapple | When should I Eat Pineapple?

Once the pineapple was considered the miracle cure, it used to be considered the best fruit to burn body fat, which is not true as we know today. But even without a fat-melting effect, the benefits of pineapple are a long list. Let’s see why we should eat more pineapple.

Pineapple contains plenty of vitamins, trace elements, and minerals that are good for your body. And then there is the bromelain. The bromelain enzyme is so powerful that a marinade made from pineapple pieces makes the tough meat tender. At the same time, bromelain is responsible for making yoghurt and curd cheese or milk ice cream with the pineapple taste bitter. It also splits the milk protein.

It was once said that pineapple made our love handles melt on their own. Contrary to expectations, the enzyme bromelain essentially splits proteins and does not influence fat. Bromelain is also the reason for some of the other benefits of pineapple.

1. More Energy for The Day – Benefits of Pineapple

The enzyme bromelain helps your body to break down protein from food completely. In this way, their energy content can be exploited down to the last calorie. Pineapple also has a high proportion of fructose, and it quickly gets into the bloodstream to provide instant energy to the body.

2. Pineapple Helps Against Constipation

Pineapple is extremely good for relieving constipation because the bromelain splits protein in the stomach and intestines, thus supporting digestion and smooth excretion.

3. Pineapple Inhibits Anti-Inflammatory Processes

One of the benefits of pineapple that only a few other eatables have is the anti-inflammatory effects. Bromelain has shown anti-inflammatory properties in various laboratory tests and even observed to have fought the cancer cells. However, it has not yet been determined whether the enzyme has the same effect inside the human body.

4. Pineapple Helps You Lose Weight

The high water content of the pineapple supports the active metabolism if you want to reduce weight. Along with that, like almost every fruit, it hardly has any calories or fat. There are only around 56 kilocalories per 100 grams.

5. Pineapple Prevents Premature Ageing and Cancer

This is a proven benefit of pineapple which is due to vitamin C contained in it. 100 grams of pineapple contains about 19 milligrams of Vitamin C. Therefore, you already cover around a fifth of your daily needs.

The antioxidants contained in the pineapple help the body in protecting it from free radicals. Free radicals are the particles that are suspected of accelerating the ageing processes and causing cancer.

However, it should also be revealed that there is almost twice as much vitamin C in fresh oranges, but then again, pineapple has a plethora of other benefits.

6. Pineapple Purifies Your Body

Pineapple has a diuretic effect, just like tomatoes, watermelons, carrots, and oranges. That’s because of the potassium contained in these fruits. Potassium has the capacity to drain water from the body.

The fibre and the enzyme bromelain help the intestine to get rid of toxins better. Also, there is Vitamin C, which activates an enzyme in the liver that cleanses your blood.

7. Pineapple Reduces The Risk of Sports Injuries

Here again, potassium comes into play. Potassium regulates the water balance and thus ensures that our muscles, including the heart, are better supplied with water. In a way, the benefits of pineapple are only there because it is full of vital nutrients.

8. Pineapple Protects Your Thyroid

Pineapple contains iodine, which our body cannot make itself. We have to make up for this deficit with food. The thyroid gland needs iodine to provide us with enough hormones. If the thyroid gland is damaged or not functioning optimally, it can not only lead to mood swings but also weight problems.

9. Pineapple Helps You Get in a Good Mood

Pineapple is a well-known mood booster. It boosts serotonin production in the body, which is responsible for relaxing the brain, thus improving the mood.

10. Pineapple Helps With Colds

Another benefit of pineapple is that the fresh pineapple juice has the reputation of being able to lower fever. Bromelain in pineapple is said to be a natural expectorant. When there is a cough, a lot of things tend to settle on our bronchi, and bromelain helps clear them.

If you want to get the full benefits of pineapple, get used to eating the stalk of the pineapple as most of the bromelain is stored here. There is another important thing to be noted that drinking packaged pineapple juice doesn’t help at all because pasteurization breaks the bromelain.
