Kellogg’s, amid massive concerns recalls famous cereal brand Honey Smacks

If you were a trader or dealing with any stock at the famous New York Stock Exchange, then you would find that the price of a single stock of Kellogg’s is worth $66.6 dollars. It’s the standard imprint of an American breakfast outlay on the dining table, each day of the morning, nearly every day of the year. In a feisty and utterly competitive world of food and beverages, Kellogg’s isn’t just a name. It’s a mark of staple respect, a uniform conveyor of sheer dominance in the cereal market.

But a news that stands the risk of thwarting all that is grand and right about Kellogg’s, it is being reported that among its famous cereal variants and varieties, the Honey Smacker has run into a problem. Can this even be a tenable situation- it does not seem so.

Apparently, out of concerns about the Honey Smacker variant of Kellogg’s, the brand has recalled approximately, 1.1 million packs of the variant from the United States markets. This isn’t a one-stop or knee-jerk reaction. Kellogg’s that sells across the United States, and proficiently and steadily in around 30 American states has called back over a million pieces citing fears that the food-item- such an incessant part of the average American’s diet- is plied with salmonella contamination.

At first thoughts, one wonders what on earth is this salmonella contamination? A possible serious condition, the Salmonella contamination is apparently the contamination of food products that are believed to contain animal faeces. If that’s not shocking, then one wonders, what will ever be? The condition causes illnesses and can even lead to deaths- it is stated.

Contributing to the overall seriousness of the situation, Kellogg’s official statement submits, in earnest, the following:

The voluntary recall involves the 15.3 ounce and 23-ounce boxes of Honey Smacks cereal with best before dates of between 14 June 2018 and 14 June 2019, Kellogg’s said in a statement

At the same time, the media reporting of the same news item has picked up the pace as well. How it not have, this is believed to be a first of its kind lapse by someone as iconic as Kellogg’s. So far, immediate preliminary reports suggest that the cornflake variant has caused up to 60 cases of Salmonella- the disease that takes place on account of the salmonella contamination.

Thankfully, as there often are signs of relief amid some widespread wrong or malaise, there definitely is some breathing space for the mega-company. It is believed that the cornflake giant does not have any similar issue in any other brand or product. Is that a glowing lifeline? It isn’t the first time that a leading brand would have called back a product that had hit the market amid shock for the wider public.

A year back in the road, Volkswagen had called back so many variants of its cars what were amid massively shock revelations following an emissions scandal. While for a year or two, there were lean sales, particularly in the car’s US and European markets, sales improved whilst efforts are still on to better the brand’s functioning on the emission chart.

Back to Kellogg’s episode.

Immediately following the outbreak of the news citing the call-back of famous Honey Smackers product has left the revered US Food and Drug Administration and the Centres for Disease and Control investigating further on the episode. It is believed that there’s a third-party manufacturer that is engaged in the food production for Kellogg’s.

And that said, there is no real reason for a worry in the wider geography of the world.

As the company only has limited distribution in countries such as Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Guam, Tahiti and, the Caribbean- there’s no apparent concern about sales or anything of that matter.

But according to the CDC, a statement issued recently states the problem associated with the cereal brand. The consumption of products contaminated with salmonella can produce serious and potentially fatal infections in people with weakened immune systems and can last up to seven days.

Maybe, the stellar brand that Kellogg’s is, it will use this as an opportunity to work toward an overhaul a new strategy to come out with new, flying colours. Although, that said, for now, the brand may have to deal with some negative press that it would be wise enough to put behind.
