Forget Quinoa and other healthy options, Farro is here to stay

We are all witnessing a food revolution of sorts. There are more conscious eaters or consumers of food today than there ever were. There’s such an importance attributed to food today that it almost seems in the decades before, food was mostly a customary entity, and not a process ever considered for eating healthy. Today, at least seven in ten people are either actively controlling their diets apart from exercising regularly or cutting down on the needless from their everyday meals.

In the space of eating healthy and eating well, there’s nothing quite as famous as quinoa and for the longest time possible. Maybe, for nearly a decade or so has quinoa been resorted to by healthy eaters around the world. And now, it seems that there’s another healthy eating option that’s gaining global legs. In fact, where the western world stands- Farro- has already made its mark.

But for starters, what exactly is Farro? To state it simply, Farro is composed of the grains of certain wheat spices that is prepared by cooking water, until it goes soft. Usually, the common mode of operation is to eat it plain. And when Farro isn’t used as such for plain straightforward eating, it is commonly used as an ingredient in salads, soups and other dishes.

Particularly, in the last few years, Farro’s consumption has increased manifold around the world. In fact, so implicit has been a penchant to consume Farro that it’s felt that it’s nearly an alternative to rice, a staple diet around the world. And there’s a reason to the growing popularity surrounding Farro.

Where nutritive value stands, Farro contains more fibre when compared to rice. That, in itself, is a big plus. Nutritionists suggest that it may not actually contain as much fat content when compared to rice. Therefore, it’s one of the more popular grains out there. That is just the beginning. It’s also known that Farro has loads of advantages when it comes cardiovascular health. In today’s age, everyone’s perpetually cutting down on foods that increase cholesterol. Besides, it’s also known to be aiding in digestive health- another major advantage.

Noted to be exceptionally high in the protein value, which is, in itself a big plus for a food grain- Farro’s sheer versatility has seriously made it popular amongst worldwide eaters. Where contemporary food culture stands, it’s not hard to fathom why the world’s closely turning to vegetarianism. Considered a healthier option, today the vegans need more nutritive foods in their bid to eat healthier. In fact, nutritionists even suggest that Farro is rich in at least, 10 different vitamins and minerals.

Considered to be way healthier than Barley, Buckwheat, and, even Whole Wheat, for the rich versatility to adapt to different recipes, this new fad is known to make for a good alternative grain addition to several dishes. But that said, here’s something worth considering. It’s not that Farro does not contain glutton. But then again, the amount of glutton it contains is lesser than what finds in wheat.

With so many advantages with newer factors emerging with added new studies, it’s hardly a surprise that Farro is gaining traction everywhere. It seems, it’s something worth trying and even sticking to. So, when are you planning to take a bite?
