The Pearl Academy does not need any introduction. They have already carved out a name for themselves amongst students and industry insiders. Since its inception in 1993, the Academy has been nurturing talents and providing constructive output to creative ideas. It is no surprise then that the Academy is the first fashion Academy in India to get the prestigious ISO 9001: 2008 Certification.
With the recent completion of the “Portfolio-16” organized at NSIC grounds (Near Nehru Place) on 6th May’16 (Friday) from 4.30pm to 6.30pm, the Academy has helped its students to offset new trends in creative business generation and enabled them to leave an impact on society by working on projects for those suffering cancer and also working on projects to revive the dying arts of India. The prime objective of the event was to showcase the work by students graduating from the Pearl Academy and bringing them face-to-face with their niche industries.
1. School of Creative Business
Students from the Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate schools, from the streams of Marketing, Merchandising, Retail, and Luxury has put several installations on two themes.
First, on recycled material called ‘Kabaad se Jugaad’ (best out of waste). Car Tyres, buckets, oil tin, old cycle , tyre tubes, iron pipes and cardboard rolls were successfully recycled in furniture’s, lamps, centre table, bar table , Visual merchandise display structure.
Second was for spreading happiness through exchanging inspirational message cards amongst people known to each other and most importantly with strangers. This was called ‘Prem Patra Diaries’ (Love letter Chronicles).
These initiatives were successfully modelled on a working business and financial plans and costs were estimated for these installations. We requested all visitors to quote a price on these items if they were to buy them for their homes. Each of the products were priced 300% to 400% by the guests, which proved to be an enormous boost for the students’ morale.
Select City Walk, a leading Mall in New Delhi has offered space for our students’ installation to be displayed at their mall. Also a leading Indian newspaper has requested us to put these installations as a backdrop to one of their live program on Recycling. This has been a great high for the graduating students.
