Apart from being one of the major brands in the world for sportswear, Nike has also been identified as a strong advocate of women’s right to be on the sports field.
This time they decided to bring the lives of Middle-Eastern women, and all the flak that they get, out on the table through this commercial. Women are heavily pushed under the guardianship laws and societal pressure in Middle-East which results in them being unable to do what they want to. One such case can be seen in relation to the sports world which has constantly been deprived of Middle-Eastern women athletes’ presence in it.
This advertisement portrays what a woman has to go through in order to perform for herself.
Nike has always rolled out something completely out of the box and made us realise that they’re selling out an idea and not a product. Last year’s energetic (and unofficial) women sports anthem – Da Da Ding – is a solid proof of that.
