Sarees are such a classy and traditional that everyone loves. We look for every option where we can sport the beauty (i.e. saree), and why shouldn’t we? They are comfortable, airy and sexy, definitely sexy. They have been in existence for the longest time and are such a timeless piece. Plus every state of our country has a much deeper connection with the saree, the art of draping a saree is different in different states.

While different places have different stories related to why they drape their sarees in a certain way, we can’t just help to fall in love with the idea of simply wearing it.

So we gathered these 7 different styles in which you can drape your saree this festive and wedding season, and woo everybody around you.

1. The simple way

The simple way is a favourite of many and why shouldn’t it be? It looks good, it flatters almost everyone and definitely the easiest one to drape. Beginners can try with this first as it is very comfortable too.

2. The Rajrani way

The Rajrani draping style is majorly popular in Gujarat and among Gujarati women. In this style, the pleats are in the front and the pallu is draped in the ‘V’ form.

3. The Butterfly way

The Butterfly way of draping sarees has been primarily popularised by the celebrities and Bollywood ladies. This way is just like a simple saree, except that the pallu is made very thin which makes your navel or midriff visible.

4. The Mermaid way

The mermaid way gives a slimming effect to your waist and makes you look curvaceous. It is made to look like it’s draped as a skirt and goes well with a heavy pallu saree.

5. The Bengali Way

We all love Bengalis. We love their food, culture, literature, language and most importantly their sarees. Those white and red sarees, immediately give you Bengali feel. This kind of draping is considered to be the easiest and has two large pleats and keyrings with keys to hold your double-wrapped pallu.

6. The Maharashtrian way

So you have a Maharashtrian wedding to attend and you want to go all out with your professional looks. Try the whole Maharashtrian look and ace the wedding. You don’t need a petticoat for draping your saree in this style, however, instead of using a 6-yard saree, use a 9 yard one as it is considered much better for this style.

7. The Lehenga way

Give your simple saree a twist with draping it as a lehenga. A lot of simple pleats give the saree an illusion of a skirt and helps you in bringing something new to the table.
