5 Best Coming-Of-Age Books That Get You

These 5 coming-of-age books will make you look back on life and give you the power to conquer the coming phases.

Reading is one of the best things that you can do in your spare or work full-time. It helps you in immediately escaping the concussed reality and takes you on a wonderful journey without even actually moving.

Plus, there are so many options to choose from. You can read fiction or non-fiction, and even these have some 50 sub-categories in them. Personally, my favourite is the coming-of-age genre. When I started reading this genre, I immediately identified it with myself, maybe because I was also at that age or something, however, reading a coming-of-age book is always like going on a self-discovery. While one might entirely be the exact copy of the character, there are some things and parts that you can relate to it and that’s what is fulfilling. Having a look at how a different person deals with a similar habit or issue.

So, I decided that this was about the time when I give my favourite coming-of-age books to the readers out there who are looking for something good to read. Some of these are classics while others are a new addition, however, each and every one of these has one similar thing about them, and that is, they are amazing.

1. Perks Of Being A WallFlower – Stephen Chbosky

Talking of coming-of-age books and this being not there, is just not acceptable in any list. Perks Of Being A Wallflower is my favourite book and I’m pretty sure that it always will be. The book follows the journey of Charlie and how he made friends and then lost them. The entire story is absolutely beautiful.

2. Harry Potter Series – J.K Rowling

The Harry Potter series is one fantasised coming-of-age story that we loved and adored in our childhood and still do. One just can’t grow out of loving these books and their characters and their storyline. Basically, everything about this book is amazing.

3. The Catcher In The Rye – J.D. Salinger

The journey through which Holden Caulfield went on is too relatable for many out there. As a 16 year-old-child, every elder looks like a person who has too many secret and lies too much. The world seems lot more phony and fake, and the same happened with Caulfield. His journey is one incredible day we all would like to witness some day, even with all the thinking. It is definitely one of the best coming-of-age books out there.

4. Eleanor And Park – Rainbow Rowell

Eleanor and Park is a story about two friends who are the misfits of this book and the incredible love that they share. The whole story is set over the course of one whole year and the situations they go through.

5. A Tree Grows In Brooklyn – Betty Smith

source: For Books’ Sake
This is a coming-of-age book on the story of a girl at the turn of the century. It’s her transition through two completely different times that are still the same. The book is heartbreaking and uplifting at the same time, and that’s what makes it such an amazing read.

Which one have you already read? And, what are you going to start with, next?
