Unless you are living under a rock or have no human/internet/television contact, you must be knowing about or at least heard the names – Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. These two are America’s Presidential candidates for the year 2016.
Both the leaders have been very vocal with their propagandas and each other. The entire process of US elections have been no less than a reality show from the past one year and it seems that the finale is due on 8 November, 2016.
So, we decided to give you a little background about both the candidates before the due date and help everyone to know a little history about the next President of USA as well as his/her opponent.
1. Hillary Diane Rodham was born on 26 October 1947 in Chicago, Illinois. She majored in political science from Wellesley College and later on went to Yale Law school for her postgraduate studies. Where she met her future husband, Bill Clinton.
2. Hillary and Bill got married on 11 October 1975 and in 1978, Bill Clinton became the Governor of Arkansas, which in turn made Hillary the first lady and she made it her mission to improve the state’s health care and education system. In 1980, Clinton’s became parents to their only child, Chelsea.
3. Till 1990, Bill Clinton was the Governor of Arkansas and in the year 1992 he became the President of United States. Hillary, after becoming the First Lady of America started with providing affordable healthcare to the Americans.
4. In the year 1998, Bill Clinton was found in an extramarital affair with the White House Intern Monica Lewinsky, which turned into a national Lewinsky Scandal, but Hillary stayed with her husband for which she received a lot of hate, love and sympathy.
5. In 2000, Hillary Clinton became the first woman U.S. senator from New York and came as a strong leader after the 9/11 tragedy in 2001. She helped secure $20 Billion to rebuild New York and provided health care who got sick from working in Ground Zero. In 2006 she was re-elected as U.S. senator with 67% votes.
6. Hillary ran for President in 2008 and although she came short of being selected, she didn’t backed off and thanked all of her supporters.
7. In the same year, President Obama asked her if she would serve as his secretary of state, to which she agreed. She campaigned for the LGBT community’s rights in America and in the world as well as expanded human rights and internet freedom. She also fought for the opportunities for young people in the world.
8. On 12 April 2015, Clinton announced her campaign for the President and on 6 June 2016 she accepted the Presidential nomination from Democratic Party. She is the first women ever to run for President from a major political party in U.S.
1. Donald John Trump was born on 14 June 1946 in Queens, New York. His father was a builder and a real estate developer who specialised in middle-income apartments in Staten Island, Brooklyn and Queens.
2. He graduated from New York Military Academy in 1964 and went to Fordham University. After two years at the university, he transferred to Wharton School of Finance in University of Pennsylvania and graduated with a degree in Economics in 1968.
3. Donald joined his family business and in the year 1971, he was given control of the company. He renamed Elizabeth Trump & Sons to Trump Organisation.
4. Trump married Ivana Zelničkova, a Czech model, in 1977 and had three kids with her. Ivana was named as the vice-president in charge of design in Trump Organisation and the couple was one of the well-known couples with strong connection in Manhattan.
5. In 1982, Trump came with his beloved Trump Tower which was a 58-story building with six-story atrium lined pink marble and an 80-foot waterfall. It was a luxurious masterpiece in Manhattan and attracted a lot of people.
6. Trump had been everywhere and got into each and every beneficial business opportunity including real estate, he also has the broadcasting rights for various big beauty pageants.
7. But in the year 1990, Trump has a debt of $2 Billion which he paid and once again he was somewhere around top in mid-late 90’s.
8. In 1991, Ivana filed a divorce and got a $20 Million settlement. Trump then married Marla in 1993, but got divorced again in 1999. Then in 2004, Donald got engaged to Melania Knauss who was a supermodel in Europe.
9. He ran for president in 1996 and 2000, but was unsuccessful in both the terms, but became good friends with fellow politicians like Chuck Schumer, Frank Lautenberg and Bill and Hillary Clinton.
10. He started with various business ventures over the years like “The Apprentice” – TV show, GoTrump.com – travel website, Trump University – Online business school, Trump Magazine and Trump Vodka, also he has written many books.
11. On 15 June 2015, Donald Trump announced his campaign to run for President and on 21 June 2016 he was accepted the Presidential nomination from Republican Party.
On one side US has, a women with a past in public servicing and working for the country, while on other, there is successful billionaire (some say “with a big mouth”). Their current propagandas speak a lot for them as an upcoming President and we can’t say that it is all good.
