BET Hip-Hop Awards is one of the most awaited events for all the rappers and hip hop artists out there. The award show gives a stage for both new and experienced artists, and it’s nothing short of amazing. However, this year was rather special, because, veteran rapper Eminem made a comeback at the award show and the green carpet, after 2011.
The news about Eminem being present at the award show and actually performing on it was first given out by DJ Khaled on his Snapchat. Which made all Eminem fans rather excited about it, however, what came way was more than just exciting.
Eminem has been known for his real lyrics, however, his performance at the BET hip hop awards was more than a rap with reality smushed into it. The entire performance was more like a diss track on US President Donald Trump and his policies and his behaviour, which has been nothing short of bizarre till now.
The entire diss revolved around, how the people of America are easily being diverted from important issues by the “racist grandpa”, Donald Trump. Eminem’s performance is now being called as one of the most fierce attacks on Trump.
The freestyle track has been named “The Storm”, where Marshall Mather is directly addressing his fans on Trump and his policies.
“And any fan of mine who’s a supporter of his, I’m drawing in the sand a line, you’re either for or against, and if you can’t decide who you like more and you’re split on who you should stand beside, I’ll do it for it for you with this. F— you,” he said toward the end, raising his middle finger.
From Trump’s comments on the supremacist rally in Charlottesville to mindless blaming the NFL players who took a knee on the ground, Eminem covered everything on this track. The rapper even called Trump a “Kamikaze that will probably cause a nuclear war.”
This latest freestyle rap, “The Storm” comes as an anticipation for Eminem’s eighth studio release builds.
While this is a huge thing, it is not the first time when Eminem has come out against Donald Trump. The Detroit rapper has slammed Trump before. At first, he castigated Trump in the nine-minute 2016 freestyle “Campaign Speech,” and then did it again in Big Sean’s “No Favors.”
Now, we all know that Donald Trump leaves no stone unturned in voicing his opinions, especially against those who are criticizing him. So, we all can just wait for what the response would be from the White House on Eminem’s performance. However, regardless of any response, Marshall Mathers has made it clear, that there’s almost nothing that can silence him now.
