5 Misconceptions About Landscaping!

Landscaping is a meticulous practice that runs on both a sense of concept and idea as well as design and functionality.

It is more than just a touch up; it is a practice of making our living structure come truly alive with the added impetus of design and architecture.

For those of us who can afford to beautify our living space(s), the practice of landscaping comes in as a handy tool to add a layer of relevance to the much loved place called home.

Yet, as with any relevant practice, there are a lot many misconceptions and notions that are attached to this specific body of work associated with one’s home. Let’s visit some key misconceptions about landscaping here and break some common myths. Onto the facts then:

The trees are just there purely for the looks!

One of the commonest elements of landscaping are the trees. They set the perfect tone to a good looking or swanky looking landscape that one carves out for the house. In other words, the trees are so central a theme to any landscaping design form that the entire practice may seem random or arbitrary exercise without them.

Yet, it suffices to say that there is more to the concept of trees in this case than just the looks!

They might be a beautiful addition to any yard, but they aren’t only there for aesthetic reasons; it is important to remember that the trees also add an important cooling effect that in most cases is upto the quantum of 10 air conditioners in a big room functioning for around 20 hours a day.

So as you may note here, there’s an element of functionality to the trees than just the physical captivating charm.

Shorter grass basically means easy maintenance

There are more misconceptions about landscaping than you know and here is one of them. It is commonly believed and even widely practiced that the grass must be kept shorter in length for it is easier to maintain it that way.

Therefore, not entirely wrong to say that shorter grass length seems more straightforward to maintain.

On the contrary, cutting the grass short only makes it grow faster (well, faster than normal).

An important landscaping practice, therefore, is to rather have a good looking trim than actually cutting down the lawn extensively.

In that regard, it’s important to ensure that you get someone to cut or cut the grass yourself with the lowest blade setting.

That way, things may not exactly spiral out of control.

The best time to water your lawn is the night

When might be the best time to water the lawn at the house? In that regard, is the night time the best time to water one’s lawns? Is that really so or could it be that this may be nothing other than one of the commonest misconceptions about landscaping?

In truth, why many think about watering the lawns during the night is because it is a bid to prevent water moisture from evaporating in the sunlight.

But in reality, the best time to do so is the daytime so that there is enough quantity of moisture reaches the greens while allowing it to get dry during the day time.

Landscaping companies are such a waste of money

There’s often some sort of bias in the realm of landscaping though much of it may stem from a lack of awareness or knowledge.

And on that note, it’s worthwhile to note that one of the biggest misconceptions about landscaping is that the landscaping companies are often bent on sending money down the drain when that may be nothing more than a figment of one’s imagination.

The entire attempt in this realm is to find a landscaping company that can transform your dreams about decking your living space into reality.

A good landscaper, of course, will pay heed to the budget that you have and will, at the same time, keep the element of functionality in the mind. The key here is to engage with a landscaper that will think of various designs that suit the architecture style of your home.

Interesting information, right?

Just about any kind of landscaping is good

One of the commonest misconceptions about landscaping is that just about any form of landscaping works for you and is deemed good.

What is important, truth be told, is that you must think of hiring a professional landscaper who is on the same page as you; someone who not only has sufficient experience of being responsible for beautiful landscapes but also understands the kind of vision that you have.

How experience plays a vital role in this regard is that when you get someone who’s not really a have been in the field, he or she may become responsible for adding elements to your house that you’d otherwise been better without.

For instance, someone who lacks experience in this field may end up planting trees too close to your home. Having plenty of trees in close comfort to one’s home can actually lead to unwanted sites such as damage of the roof, all of which will ultimately cost you in the end.

Likewise, someone who lacks relevant experience may deploy ineffective landscaping techniques that could even lead to flooding. Just who would want such a thing? Best to place the responsibility of your place into the hands of a seasoned landscaping expert.
