World Culture Festival 2016, organised by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar-led Art Of Living Foundation begins today in Delhi. After the initial disruptions due to rain and traffic, the World Culture Festival started in the evening.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached on the venue shortly after 5:30 pm in the evening. At the sprawling Yamuna floodplains, thousands of people were gathered for the festival. The festival is expected to draw lakhs of people in the next three days. People arrived from different parts of the world.
More people are expected to attend the mega event of Dance and Music of this festival.
The decks were cleared on Friday by The National Green Tribunal for this event. The National Green Tribunal gave three more weeks to Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s foundation to pay Rs.5 crore in damages for holding the jamboree on the ecologically fragile Yamuna floodplains in Delhi.
Though the CPWD has pointed out that the structure is unsafe but the Delhi Fire Service has already issued a clearance certificate for the event.
