Recently a video of a speaker’s rant on Millennials went viral where Simon Sinek (the speaker) talked about all the bad and ugly with the millennials.
Millennials are the people who were born approximately 1984 and after, are narcissistic, tough to manage, self-interested, entitled and unfocused, as described by Sinek. Many felt that a part of what the speaker was talking about, was true. However, there were many who stood up to his rant and didn’t approve of his generalisation of an entire generation belonging to some three decades of so.
Simon Sinek’s talk can simply be explained as a rant completely given on the basis of 10-15 cases because a majority of millennials haven’t seen or been through that phase in their lives, where their parents were fighting with the teachers to gift wrap good grades to their kids.

However, being from a country like India where still a majority of workplace revolves around working in cubicles for a designated time, it did occur to me that how well-connected this rant is with Indian millennials. A majority of kids in our country are still walking on the path of becoming an Engineers and Doctors for a safe and fulfilling future and Many of us are still not allowed to select what we want to do in life, which leads to an unsatisfied work atmosphere.
Youth Ki Awaz went out to find the answer of what is the Indian millennials’ ideal workplace and what they actually want from their workplace?

This video should be seen by every one of those who thought that millennials are just a lazy bunch of people that are tough to manage and satisfy because it answers and basically points out all that is wrong in Indian workforce system. These millennials talked about how an ideal workplace is a place where their voice counts, where they are given equal pay for equal work, where an organisation is cognizant of their unique needs and personally I don’t feel that this is wrong or entitling for anyone.
Yes, there’s a problem with the millennial generation and it’s that they’re finally speaking and talking about issues which were simply ignored at a workplace. They don’t simply want to settle for something normal and mundane for their entire lives and this is the time to make a change for the better of us and the next generation to come.
