One just can’t deny the fact that India is dirty, which is why a Prime Minister had to launch an initiative to make people aware of how to keep their country clean and not throw waste around. Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his first year, the initiative is said to be doing well across various states. Now, PM Modi has thought of another way through which the entire initiative could be made more effective among the people.
On Sunday, PM invited youngsters to join his Swachh Bharat Summer Internship 2018. He said that the internship will be perfect for individuals who want to bring change in their society and do something good. Along with handsome incentives, participants would also be given credit points by the UGC.
The best of the interns who have strived in schools and colleges with excellent work will be rewarded with recognition at the national level. Not just that, those interns who accomplish their tasks well will be awarded two credit points each by the UGC, Modi said.
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is PM Modi’s pet project under which he wants to make India as clean as possible. The initiative also aims to achieve an Open-Defecation Free (ODF) India, all by October 2, 2019, which is Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary. This mission will also contribute to India reaching Sustainable Development Goal Number 6. The goal calls for clean water and sanitation for all people.
