After Exasperating Farragos, Shashi Tharoor Is Out With Another Word For The World, “Rodomontade”

Shashi Tharoor, MP from Thiruvananthapuram, is definitely one of the most eloquent and well-spoken politicians in India, today. He knows how to talk and convey his thoughts in a rather fancy way, however, that is not always what he intends to do.

Earlier this year, Tharoor, while talking about a journalist tweeted out and said, “Exasperating farrago of distortions, misrepresentations & outright lies being broadcast by an unprincipled showman masquerading as a journalist”. In his now viral tweet, the Internet found a new word and a rather great English tutor.

Exasperating farrago went on to become one of the most searched words on Google and people just couldn’t stop themselves from meme-ing the heck out of it.

Now, Shashi Tharoor’s way of talking is somehow considered to be holy in its own way. Which is why various outlets constantly try to dig out a meme or joke in it. To this, Shashi Tharoor had another thing to say about. He tweeted out this message for the well-meaning people who can’t stop obsessing about Tharoor’s way of talking.

To all the well-meaning folks who send me parodies of my supposed speaking/writing style: The purpose of speaking or writing is to communicate w/ precision. I choose my words because they are the best ones for the idea i want to convey, not the most obscure or rodomontade ones!

What started of artlessly (nothing like Tharoor), soon ended with another word for the world to probe about. Rodomontade was the word of the day, straight from the great Tharoor dictionary. And, almost instantly, the world was onto it. In case you don’t know (like us), Rodomontade means ‘boastful or inflated talk or behaviour’. People on Twitter are now trying their best to thank Tharoor for his great contribution to their vocab, while others are asking back for their school fees.
