Not just the city of amazing, lip-smacking street food; but also the city of local thugs and goons who do exactly what is shown in movies; exploit and terrorize a peaceful, quaint neighborhood! Not that the goons ever had to stand out if that was their attempt anyway, just stating that they belonged to Delhi would have done it!
Not just the city of gorgeous historical monuments that beckon the attention of both- pet lovers as well as romantic youngsters, but also the den of underground drug selling and illicit share trading.
Moreover, not just the city where the average romeo in the bus or wherever public transport reaches tries to grope girls under broad daylight, but the city that is nowadays putting the alphabets SEX on its scooter number plates.
In an age where SEX is no longer the obsession of people, since the means to get some ‘action’ as how the cools studs and dudettes describe it have reached Tinder and whatnot- Delhi is still obsessing about slease. So much so that it decided to buy scooters that ultimately ended up having the words SEX typed on the number plates.
But then, it’s Delhi– so are you even surprised? It’s a city where recognized models get house arrested, thrown out of the house, even get shot at from a point blank range. It’s Delhi, where mass suicides happen borne out of nothing but inexplicable belief in totems and superstition.
Remember, it was Delhi where a man actually ate the remains of children- including girls- he had first raped and then, buried in the NCR territory!
So what’s the crime against humanity- if any of it is left anyway in Delhi- if SEX is typed bold and clear on the number plate of two wheelers; scooties, in particular belonging to the city?
But having said all the above, the matter, rather concerning since it’s actually about the alphabets- S, E and X printed bold, loud and clear on the scooter number plates in Delhi has courted headlines and news makers’ attention. In a bid to get to the bottom of the issue, in order to ascertain whether it was a gaffe on the part of the RTO or some rather strange attempt to indulge in theatrics, several news publications, including the respected India Today delved deep into the matter and came up with the following:
Two-wheelers are denoted by the letter ‘S’ in Delhi. Delhi number plates follow a convention: DL for Delhi followed by a number representing the district, followed by a letter for the type of vehicle, followed by 2 letters that denote the latest series, followed by 4 digit unique number in that series. So a typical number reads like this: DL 2 C AD 1234. DL for Delhi, 2 for East District, C for Car or S for two-wheelers, AD for the number series followed by the number.
So, the number plates for two-wheelers in Delhi these days have the letter ‘S’ followed by ‘EX’ on them. Such is the problem that families who have had the misfortune of getting one such number plate are being met with taunts and words like ‘besharam‘ (shameless).
Honestly, what else does Delhi even need to prove that it was indeed shameless that it did eventually think that coming up with letters- SEX on scooter number plates was the ‘in’ thing to do?
So in a thing that someone actually came up with a plan to put virile alphabets “in” to the phrase that are about the involvement of “it” being “in?” Now, are those bunch of losers happy reading the above?
How else is one going to read this and make some judgement about it?
Moreover, if the RTO, as it turns out, is actually behind this gaffe or planned mistake then just what was the body even doing in the first place?
