1. RBI: No withdrawal limit from the ATMs from 1st Feb.
On Monday, Reserve Bank of India announced that there would be no withdrawal limit from the ATMs now, starting from 1st Feb 2017. However, the weekly withdrawal limit from the savings account will still continue to be Rs 24,000. All kinds of limit on cash withdrawal from cash credit account/current account/ overdraft account, have been removed.
2. BJP leader Suresh Rana charged by the UP Police on his incendiary remarks during an election campaign.
While addressing a rally on Saturday, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Suresh Rana declared that he would impose a curfew in Kairana, Moradabad, and Deoband, if he wins the upcoming Assembly elections in UP. After the video of him giving these remarks started circulating, Rana said that his statement was not aimed at any religious community. Rana is now been charged by the UP Police for his remarks. He is also an accused in 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots.
3. Amulya Kumar Patnaik has been appointed as the New Delhi Police Commissioner.
Amulya Kumar Patnaik has today been appointed as the New Delhi Police Commissioner by the Union Home Ministry. Patnaik would be taking Alok Kumar Verma’s place, as he was appointed as the CBI chief on 19th January. Before becoming the New Delhi Police Commissioner, Patnaik was posted as the Special Commissioner (Administration) in Delhi Police.
4. Almost 1 million signed the petition in the UK to withdraw Donald Trump’s invitation to the country.
Almost 1 million people have signed the petition in order to withdraw Donald Trump’s invitation to visit London and dine with Queen Elizabeth. Last Friday, British Prime Minister Theresa May extended her invitation to Donald Trump for a “state” visit, after which the petition started. The petition started gaining momentum as Trump signed an executive order through which refugees have been barred from entering the United States for the next 120 days and temporarily barred travellers from 7 predominantly muslim countries. However, Donald Trump has plans to visit Britain by the end of this year.
5. Seagate to launch a 16TB Hard Drive by next year.
Seagate is planning to launch a 16TB Hard Drive within the next 18 months. As per some reports, the 16TB HDD would be a standard 3.5 inch SATA drive and would be Helium filled, just like other drives in the market in the last two years. Apart from this, the company is also testing a 12TB drive whose initial response is considered to be a success till now. Last year, Seagate launched a 10TB BarraCuda Pro Hard drive as part of their Guardian Series which is targeted to home use.
