Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its schedule for Narendra Modi rallies in Uttar Pradesh, even before the date of the election is announced. The rallies would take place in a time frame of 2 months and the first one is scheduled for 24 October at Mahoba district of Bundelkhand, UP.
Only two venues have been finalised till now and the rest will be announced soon, a party member said. The final rally will take place at Lucknow on 25 December, Christmas Day. He also stated that PM Narendra Modi is the de facto face of their party and BJP is in no hurry to announce the Chief Ministerial Candidate for elections.
The PM has already addressed the Uttar Pradesh voters on four occasions at Ballia, Gorakhpur, Saharanpur and Allahabad since May 2016.
Keshav Prasad Maurya, the party leader in UP said that they are planning to go into the elections without announcing the name of the CM candidate because the party works as a single organisation and they want the voters to vote according to the party’s performance in other states and also at Central Level.
The strategy of not announcing a CM candidate was also seen in BJP’s Bihar election Campaign where Narendra Modi led the party but the results were catastrophic for the Bharatiya Janata Party. On the other hand, in the recent elections in Assam, the party announced Sarbananda Sonowal as the CM candidate and won the elections.
Maurya said that, it is not right to compare the UP election campaign with the Bihar one and they are sure of winning the elections in Uttar Pradesh this time due to PMO’s recent actions against terrorism.
