Tamil Nadu, today is on one day ‘bandh’ due to the Cauvery Water dispute. Opposition parties in addition to several farmers and trade organisations are going to join the ‘bandh’ and protest. Police forces are on their toes for maintaining the decorum and law and order in the city. The police have come up with the assurance to maintain peace and free movement of transportation on roads.
Many local shops, taxis and auto are shut in support of the ‘bandh’. However, Trains and state transport corporation-run buses are on roads and being operated.
This protest has majorly put into action against the violence that targeted the Tamils in Karnataka in addition to Cauvery water. In order to save Tamil Nadu’s protest from turning into a violence based protest, like something that happened in Bengaluru, over 15,000 policemen have been appointed on duty that include armed reserve forces too.
Yesterday, B.Vignesh a 21-year old from Nam Tamilar Katchi party set fire to himself at a rally organised by film director Seeman’s NTK party on the Cauvery water dispute. He died today at 11:05 am in a hospital in Chennai.
