Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Khat Yatra’ Fails As People Literally Took Khats With Them

Looks like “Khats” were more in demand as compared to Rahul Gandhi in his “Khaat Sabha” in Uttar Pradesh today.

The Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi had a meeting with farmers and as soon as he finished addressing to them (barely), the locals took the brand new “Khats” and walked away.

There were almost 2000 “Khats” at the meeting and people took most of them. The raid actually started with eatables and bottled water, which were stored in a tent after that few people picked up the cots and others followed them. Only a few “Khats” were left on the ground as for some people they were too heavy to lift.

This was the first “Khat Sabha” of Mr. Gandhi’s farmer-focused month-long yatra of UP, it is an advance take on village meetings where elders discuss on important matters seated on “Khats” fashioned out of rope and wood.

The crucial elections will be held in UP early next year. The Congress vice president decided to begin his campaign by attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and accused him of having “forgotten farmers”.

He said that Modi Ji talked about farmer’s welfare and how he intended to help them but after coming in power he seems to forget his promises towards farmers.

This Yatra intends to energise party cadre and informs voters that Congress is making a real bid at winning UP after 27 years but seems like Deoria in eastern UP does not agree with him.

His yatra aims to cover 23 of Uttar Pradesh’s 403 assembly constituencies and is 2,500-km long. He will also hold road show for close interactions with farmers and he will also collect a charter of farmers’ demands during this journey.
