Prime Minister Modi’s Four Nation Tour Of Africa.

Prime Minister Modi is on a four nation tour of Africa. He landed in Mozambique on Thursday morning on his first stop of the African tour. In his talks with Mozambique President Filipe Nyusi, Mr. Modi said that terrorism was the greatest threat to the world in present times and it is equally adversely affecting the two countries. Both countries resolved to strengthen defence and security ties and another agreement was signed to ensure food Security which included a long-term agreement on purchase of pulses. At the end of the day he left for the Air Force Base, Waterkloof, in Pretoria where he received a warm welcome by South African Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Nkoana Mashabane and Minister for Small Business Lindiwe Zulu.

Mr. Modi is in South Africa today on the second leg of his tour where he is meeting South African President Jacob Zuma in Pretoria. There are plans for the PM to visit the Constitution Hill in Johannesburg and then the Nelson Mandela Foundation. He will leave for Durban in the evening after addressing a gathering of Indians in Johannesburg.

Tomorrow i.e. Saturday, the Prime Minister has scheduled to visit Mahatma Gandhi’s Phoenix Settlement in Durban. He will partake a train journey to Pietermaritzburg in memory of Mahatma Gandhi’s historic train journey of 1893 wherein he was forcefully ejected from the train on account of his dark skin colour. The Mayor of Durban is hosting a reception in honour of the Indian Prime Minister.

He is slated to visit Tanzania and Kenya in the latter part of his visit.
