Deputy CM Manish Sisodia was attacked by ink outside the Lt Governor’s Office by a man who claimed that he was upset over the Aam Aadmi Party leader who went a tour of Finland at the time when Delhi was suffering with a health crisis. Mr.Sisodia had returned to the capital last night from Finland after LG Najeeb Jung asked him to return on Saturday. However, he came back according to his earlier schedules return that was yesterday.
Speaking about the attack, Sisodia said, “The Government of Delhi is very much committed on working for health and education. But Congress and BJP are working on ink. They have nothing to do with people living in delhi. Their motive is to stop our initiatives. This is the dirty politics of BJP and Congress.” He also said in a statement that this was a diversion policy adopted by the opposition since the party has been rigorously working for the development of the state.
The accused who was detained on the spot and identified as a Karawal Nagar resident Brijesh Shukla, has told the police he was the founder member of the Swaraj Janta Party-a local political party functioning out of his East Delhi residence. He has further accused the AAP member Mr. Sisodia of “enjoying” his recent trip to Finland as Delhi “ suffered from the Dengue and Chikungunya crises.” During questioning Mr.Shukla told the police that he had visited the L-G House to submit a complaint against the State Government.
Both the opposition parties namely Bhartiya Janta Party and the Congress were against the incident but said in their statements that this “public anger” against the AAP-led Delhi government “was justified.”
While this is the first direct attack on Mr. Sisodia, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been subjected to a similar incident when he was addressing the crowd relating to the odd-even rule in January.
Nowadays these ink attacks and shoe attacks on leaders are getting common, lifting the veil and showing the need for more strict security for our leaders as the ink can be replaced with an acid(hoping this would never happen) and can jeopardising the security of our leaders.
