Aparajita Rai is another name added in the list of the women who has created history by their sheer hard work and grit. 28-year-old, Aparajita Rai did not only make her late father proud but also elevated her community Gorkha as she became the first woman IPS officer of Sikkim. She also cracked UPSC examinations in 2011 but after holding 358th rank in UPSC 2012 examinations she got appointed as the first female IPS officer of Sikkim.
Aparajita lost her father at a tender age of eight, who was a divisional forest officer. After the death of her father, her mother Roma Rai, who is a school teacher and her elder sister who is a doctor raised Aparajita. Looking at her achievements it is clear she was raised to be strong, dedicated and a person who follows her dreams tirelessly.
Aparajita holds an impeccable academic record on her name, she was awarded a gold medal in Jurisprudence and Public Administration from the National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata. Aparajita holds a degree in BA LLB (Hons) and she secured 768th rank out of 920 in her first attempt of UPSC Civil services examination in 2010.
Now she is an IPS officer but other than being outstanding in academics, she is also a person who loves music and dancing. Aparajita plays guitar and has done a course in Bharatanatyam dance. She also loves doing aerobics and is a big fan of German rock band Scorpions.
Currently posted in Hooghly, West Bengal, the woman is making India proud.
