Within 48-hours of the killing of K. Mohanan, a worker in Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)], an extreme case of an eye for an eye has taken place. A murder of a worker of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been reported on Wednesday. The aftermath of this killing has resulted in putting the police on high alert in the Kannur district of Kerala.
These clashes between the CPI(M) and BJP have been going on from past five months and had resulted in six killings till now. Out of these six killings, two have taken in just past two days.
The problem is that the police has been taking measure to stop the escalation of these killings, however, they are still happening and if the initial measures were not implemented then the entire plot could have gotten much worse. One of the senior police officers said that it seems the situation is getting worse everyday as no one knows when the next attack would take place. Plus, both the parties are living adjacent to each other and not in some separate areas, which makes the entire scenario all the more difficult.
Till now, 500 raids have been conducted by the police officers in various areas of the district. All they want now is to catch those who are the real culprits behind these killings and put them behind bars.
