Pakistani troops resorted to heavy mortar shellings on Friday morning at Sunderbani, Pallanwala and Naushera sectors of Jammu and Kashmir. All the three sectors are situated along the Line of Control (LOC).
The attack started at 5 am in the morning and is still underway. Three civilians have been reported injured in the ceasefire violation and over a dozen houses were damaged. According to reports, around 400 families migrated to safer locations.
Lieutenant Colonel Manish Mehta said that the Pakistani troops used 82mm and 120mm mortar shellings and fired with small automatic weapons towards the Indian posts along LOC.
This is the eighth such ceasefire violation in the last 24 hours. One jawan was killed and another injured after BSF countered an infiltration attempt in Tangdhar sector.
Rajnath Singh, the Minister of Home Affairs asked the BSF chief to give a ‘Fitting Response’ to the ceasefire violations by the Pakistani forces.
Indian and Pakistani forces have been trading fire since a long time and the situation got worse after Indian Army carried out Surgical Strikes on militant camps in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir killing 38 terrorists and two Pakistani soldiers.
Indian Crime Branch has also captured a Pakistani spy carrying Indian Defence related documents on Thursday.
The tension between the two nations have forced the Indian Government to be on high alert due the ongoing festive season in the country, as terrorists have targeted Indian cities many times during the festive seasons killing many innocent Indian citizens.
