Pakistan Censored The Speech Of Rajnath Singh In Islamabad

On Saarc Summit, Indian Home Minister gave a speech and Pakistan’s state-run news channel PTV, which was the only media channel allowed to cover the summit, did not aired the speech on Thursday.

No media was allowed to cover the speech of Rajnath Singh at the Saarc summit. Not only India media was barred, even the  private TV news channels of Pakistan were not allowed to telecast the speech, however, PTV covered the introductory speech by Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif  and the speech of interior minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan.

On his speech, Rajnath Singh said that the minor condemnation of individual acts by terrorists and terrorism was not enough. He also said that there should be no distinction between a “good terrorist” and a “bad terrorist”.  Referring to the 22-year-old Hizbul Mujahideen militant Burhan Wani who was Indian Military last month,  he added that no country in the world should glorify a terrorist.

He said that terrorism is terrorism, it is not good or bad and there should be no glorification of the terrorists as martyrs.

On Wednesday, Rajnath Singh arrived in Islamabad despite the threat from Hizbul Mujahideen and the Harkat ul Mujahideen.

Since the January militant attack on an Indian air force base in Pathankot, the relations between India and Pakistan have worsened. The recent killing of Wani by Indian security men was described as a martyr by Pakistan’s PM Sharif.

He also called the  deadly street protests in Kashmir,  “a new wave of freedom movement” and said that “Kashmir will one day become Pakistan”. The comments of Sharif evoked a sharp reaction from India’s external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, who said that Pakistan’s dream of Kashmir becoming its part “will not be realised“, even at the end of eternity.

On Tuesday, Hizbul commander Syed Salahuddin called Rajnath Singh “a killer of Kashmiris” and stated that Pakistan should cut diplomatic ties with India.

Since the death of Wani, around 50 people are killed in the protests in Kashmir.
