Is Another Variant Rather Variants A New Coronavirus Threat?

Much of the world for a year and a half has been a quiet and shattered place all thanks to the Coronavirus threat.

Economies collapsing, job burning out, families receding to the most uncomfortable and barely liveable ways, not to mention, much of the savings of the world shrinking in a period marked by rabid uncertainty and horrendous loss of lives. When it was expected that the Coronavirus threat would be somewhat averted with the inception of the vaccine come 2021, it does’t appear as if a lot has changed. Well, not so when it comes to countries like India, among the largest democracies on the face of the earth. Perhaps it may no longer be incorrect to state that for as long as the world will live with the exasperating memories of the Coronavirus-plagued world, India will continue to be troubled with the treacherous month that was April, 2021, which is where the COVID cases spiked with the coming of the second wave. But are the troubles over? Not exactly, for it seems a Coronavirus variant has come about.

One really wonders, what might be the condition of the world, particularly here in India, with the coming of the new Coronavirus variant?

Where it comes specifically to countries like India, the new threat is being posed by the Delta plus variant of the Coronavirus. It is these mutations of the Coronavirus that have caught the attention of the world and it still isn’t about time where one could reckon that what one witnesses is the peaceful post-Pandemic world.

To elaborate more on India and its current virus troubles, it can be said in no uncertain terms that the new Coronavirus variant is, once again, highly transmissible. But is that all? Could there be something else that could perhaps make this new variant more deadlier than COVID 19 when it first struck?

A lot many experts, in conjunction with publications believe, that this new Coronavirus variant could even be impervious to both vaccines and medicines.

So if that is the case, then one wonders, with all due respect, just how safe is the life of an individual if even a vaccine or medication cannot safe his or her life? What’s all the hype and sense of urgency surrounding the vaccine about? Where does one go? In fact, those in India those can be safe who have the financial bandwidth to escape to safer havens, for instance, a scantily populated village in Odisha or a hill station up north with barely any population. But where does the common man go?

That being told, here is what Hindustan Times happened to report on the current threat , a threat that is ensuring that none of us breathe easy:

Delta Plus is a mutated form of the Delta variant, first found in India in December, 2020. So far, it has been detected in 12 states, according to the government and claimed nearly 50 lives.

But apart from this, there are other variants too which have the potential – though not as pronounced as Delta Plus – to infect the people and bring the economy back to a grinding halt.

According to Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the prominent variants of that coronavirus are: Alpha, Beta and Delta.
