Voting is the only medium through which the general public can elect a good and hard working individual to run their country, state, and community. It’s the right that each and everyone must exercise to ensure a good governance and more than that, to ensure the democracy. Only through voting a right candidate would be elected, someone who focus on real issues instead of relying on politics of polarisation.
One soon-to-marry couple has decided to encourage the idea of voting among the people around them by designing their wedding invitation in the form of voter ID cards. Yes, you read that absolutely right.
April 27 is the day that Siddappa Doddachikkannanavar and Jyothi will tie the knot. With this campaign, Siddappa, a social activist and railway employee hope to encourage more people to vote this time. “I wanted to do something unique through my wedding to promote Karnataka elections and when I approached my friend Karibasappa Gondi, a constable, about this, he advised me to take this forward and encourage people to come out and vote. After that, we designed my wedding card like a Voter ID by including similar fonts and style,” Siddappa told Banglore Mirror.
The Assembly elections in Karnataka are scheduled to be held on May 12th, and as reported by the Bangalore Mirror, the couple took permission from District Collector to design their cards in this manner.
Now that’s some creative and interesting way to ignite the fire of a good idea, i.e. voting, among people.
