Arnab Goswami, the Editor-In-Chief of Times Now as well as the king of Prime Time debates, would be provided ‘Y’ category security cover by the Indian government. This security is provided due to the threats to Arnab by ‘Pakistan-based terrorist groups’. Under this category, he’ll be granted constant security from over 20 guards, which include two personal security officers.
Justice Markandey Katju, a.k.a the king of brutal remarks, targeted Arnab Goswami on this issue. On Monday afternoon in a facebook post, he described Goswami as a joker who has nothing in his head except his arrogance and someone who will be getting 20 guards night and day by the Govt. for his security. However, he ended his ferocious comments with a Hari Om, which is just so Justice Katju.
He also posted this statement:
His main concerns are about the money that the government would be spending on Arnab Goswami’s security, the money that actually comes from the public taxes. Now we don’t know much, but one thing is very certain that Justice Katju is somehow correct. The 43-year-old anchor is one of the highest paid journalist in our country today, which means that he is well off enough to hire security guards on his own money. Yes, the government should be appointing some security officers but 20 people are too big of a number. It is more like a one-of-a-kind crowd for Goswami’s protection. However, he hasn’t yet commented on government’s decision.
We can only imagine if Arnab would have raised an incident like this in one of his Prime Time debates, if he would have denoted this situation, as an example of VIP culture in India.
