Indian Army was again attacked by Pakistani troops on Sunday, at the Rajouri District of Jammu and Kashmir. One Indian Soldier, Sudesh Kumar was killed in this unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan.
The attack came on the day when India was hosting the BRICS and BIMSTEC summit in Goa. This was one of the two attacks that the Indian Army tackled on Sunday, as the Pakistani troops launched Mortar Shellings just 12 hours before the ceasefire.
No Indian Troop was injured in the first attack but Sudesh Kumar, 22, has to sacrifice his life in the second one while answering the ceasefire violation.
Pakistan has been rapidly violating an unprovoked ceasefire since the Indian Army conducted a surgical strike on seven militant camps in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) on 29th September.
Some of the major ceasefire violation by the Pakistani troops since the Surgical Strike are:
1. On 30 September, Pakistani troops fired with small artillery at three locations of the Akhnoor sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
2. On 1st October, the troops attacked at the same locations, but this time with RPG’s, HMG’s and mortar shellings.
3. On 2nd October, Indian Army camps tackled the firing and mortar shellings launch by the Pakistani Troops along the LOC in Pallanwala district Jammu and Kashmir.
4. On 3rd October, the ceasefire was violated four times at Shahpur-Kerni, Mandi, Saujian and KG sector of Poonch District.
5. On 4th October, there were five ceasefire violations at 10 different locations of Jammu and Kashmir along the LOC. This time, some civilian areas were also targeted.
6. On 5th October, three different locations of the Poonch and Rajouri district were subjected to such attacks.
According to an Army Official, there have been around 25 similar violations by Pakistani Troops. Around 50 percent of these attacks took place near the Nowshera District in Jammu and Kashmir. There are several gaps between the barbed wire along the LOC and this is the reason why every major breach has been tried through this region only.
The Indian Army is on High Alert since the Uri attacks, which claimed the lives of 19 Indian Soldiers and the security has been further increased due to the BRICS summit and the ongoing festive season in India.
