India vs England, 3rd Test: India Won by 8 Wickets and Twitter Erupts Again

England started the fourth day with a trail of 56 runs and ended up setting a target of 103 runs against India on the Fourth day of the 3rd test match against India. Chasing 103 runs on day four was never an easy task but Kohli and his team wanted to make an statement and that is what they did. India ended up winning the match by 8 wickets and simultaneously taking a lead of 2-0 in the India vs England Series 2016.

The fourth day commenced with Jadeja giving his team a great start by claiming the wicket of Gareth Betty and not even a single run was added on the scoreboard. Jos Butler showed some resistence but Jayant Yadav was in no mood to let his team down and gave India a breakthrough by sending Butler (18) back to the pavilion.

Joe Root (78), the only english player that became the nightmare of Indian Bowlers was next in the line and it was ‘Sir’ Jadeja who gave his team the breakthrough.

Meanwhile, Chris Woakes and Haseeb Hameed built up a partnership that became a cobblestone in India’s path and the need to bring R. Ashwin back to the attack was evident.

Ashwin must be upset as he didn’t get a chance to enjoy the party because Shami ended the visitors innings by claiming Chris Woakes (30) and Adil Rashid’s (0) wicket and that too in the same over.

Haseeb Hameed remained not out with 59 runs on his name and the player longed for a partnership that he never got. England ended up giving a target of 103 runs to the Indian side.

103 runs may not seem to be a difficult task but the Mohali pitch is famous for its dreadful avatar that emerges on the fourth and fifth day of the test match. However, Indian batting lineup never gave the visitors a chance to overshadow and ended up winning the match with 8 wickets. All it took was a couple of wicket and 20 overs.

Murali Vijay went back without scoring a single run and that too in the first over of the innings. Cheteshwar Pujara (25) and Parthiv Patel (67) took the innings very close to the finishing line before the former getting out on Adil Rashid’s delivery.

Virat Kohli came on the crease to complete the formality and with the help of Parthiv Patel, took the team to an 8 wicket win over England.

The players to look out for in the future.

Parthiv Patel: The ‘little guy’ was playing for the team after eight years and what a come back it has been. The player made 42 runs in the first innings and ended up scoring a fifty in the second one. However, his wicket-keeping qualities will be questioned in the future but opening for the national team after eight years and scoring 100+ runs in the first match was never an easy task.

Jayant Yadav: Words are not enough to explain his performance. Yadav has scored his maiden fifty in this match, claimed a hell lot of wickets and has also glitters in the fielding department too. He is emerging as a complete package that the Indian team has been searching for since ages.

Everything said and done, Indian is now leading the series with 2-0 and need only one more win in this five-match series against England to make the inventors of the game taste dust on the Indian soil.
