India at the 71st session of United Nations General Assembly in New York accused Pakistan of supporting terrorist activities and called Pakistan a “terrorist state” and accused them of executing “war crimes” against India.
The recent session of the UN general assembly was scheduled in New York on Wednesday and all the representatives of United Nations member countries were present there. Pakistan’s Prime Minister raised the issue of Pakistan’s Kashmir while the Indian delegation countered with the issue of Uri attacks. Mr. Nawaz requested the intervention of US, UK, Japan and Turkey to resolve this issue.
Mr. Sharif also said that Pakistan is ready to discuss and come to a conclusion on every problem both the nations are suffering from. He also said that Pakistan is ready to come to an agreement on the nuclear test treaty.
Using India’s ‘right to reply’ to Mr.Sharif, Eenam Gambhir, Permanent Mission Secretary of India to UN said that the worst violation of human rights is terrorism which Pakistan supports. After the Uri attacks US Secretary of State John Kerry also advised Mr. Sharif to not allow Pakistan to become a ‘safe haven’ for terrorist groups.
Ms. Gambhir said “When practised as an instrument of state policy it is a war crime. What my country and our other neighbours are facing today is Pakistan’s long-standing policy of sponsoring terrorism, the consequences of which have spread well beyond our region.” She also accused Pakistan of using billions of Dollars most of which is generated from international aid and using it to train, finance and support terrorist activities.
She also accused Mr. Sharif for glorifying Burhan Wani the Hizbul Mujahideen who was killed in July by the Indian forces. This UN meet has resulted in accelerating the cold war between these two nations and we can do now is wait and see how this session of UNGA will resolve the issues raised by both the countries.
