1. N Chandrasekaran To Be The New Tata Sons Chairman.
Chandrasekaran, the chief executive officer of Tata Consultancy Services Ltd will soon take over as the new Chairman of Tata Sons. He will be the seventh chairman of the company. He joined TCS group in 1987 and took over as the chief executive officer and managing director of TCS in October 2009. He was also the chief operating officer of the company as well as he served as the chairman of the industry body National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) in 2012-13.
2. Air India Will Reserve Six Front Seats For Women.
Air India will soon reserve six seats of the front rows for the women passengers on all domestic flights without any extra charges. The chairman and managing director of Air India, Ashwani Lohani said that the national carrier will not charge any additional fee for blocking such seats for women passengers. This is the first time when an Airline has come up with such idea for the safety of women.
3. Khanderi, The Second Scorpene-class Submarine Has Launched.
INS Khanderi, Navy’s second Scorpene-class submarine that has superior stealth and the ability to launch a crippling attack with torpedoes, has been launched in Mumbai, at the Mazgaon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL), on Thursday.
The submarine was launched by the Union minister Subhash Bhamre’s wife, Bina Bhamre. Admiral Sunil Lanba, the chief of the Naval Staff was also present when the submarine was separated from the pontoon. It is designed to operate in all theaters, all means and communications are provided.
4. India A Won Second Practice Match By 6 Wickets.
India ‘A’ gained a comprehensive victory against England by six wickets in the second warm-up match at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday. India A bowled England out for 282 in 48.5 overs and scored 283/4 in 39.4 overs. Ajinkya Rahane and Sheldon Jackson both showcased smashing display of batting scoring 91 and 59 runs. As the teams move across to Pune for the first ODI, England will need their bowling unit to come up with strong strategies if they are to compete against a rejuvenated Indian batting line-up.
5. The Market Continues To Strengthen For The Third Day.
BSE’s Benchmark Sensex extended its gains and closed at 27,247.16 with a notable rise of another 107 points at the end of Thursday trade. NSE’s Nifty also rose as it climbed 26.55 points and closed on a high note at 8,407.20. Indian Rupee staged a spectacular recovery by surging 24 paise and reached 68.08 paise against the U.S. Dollar.
