An Indian photographer, while travelling New Zealand for six months, did something unusual with his landscape photographs which gave his work much more depth and character, according to him.
21 years old Akhil Suhas has a rather dream-like and unusual approach to life, where he values memories more than possessions. And, this thought process of his made him travel to the beautiful and scenic New Zealand. While travelling, he documented his 15,000 km long journey through some stunning photographs and videos.
The unusual aspect of his photos was the presence of ‘Gandalf’, yes you read it right, a fictional character and one of the protagonists from J.R.R. Tolkien’s ‘Lord of The Rings’. As per the photographer, ‘Gandalf’ figure gave his photos the focus that they needed in order to gain scale and focus. And, he was certainly right, the entire landscape looks all the more magical with Gandalf’s presence.
New Zealand is popularly known as middle earth which also went on to become the title of his video while being here. Suhas told The Guardian that he asked other fellow travellers, who he met while travelling, to be a part of his visual composition and they did dress up like Gandalf and posed for him. He also said that surprisingly no one turned him down for this offer, which made the entire thing all the more interesting.
