While the entire country is struggling to convert their old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes into new ones, someone is going to spend their money in more than a luxurious way, on a wedding. We Indians should be awarded for spending a ridiculous amount of money on personal events, and Wedding is our favourite kind to do so.
One such extreme spending money example is of Karnataka Billionaire Janardhana Reddy, who is going to spend whopping Rs 500 crore for his daughter, Brahmani’s wedding. Mining banor Janardhana Reddy is a Former Minister in BJP government and has been accused in various money laundering and mining cases.
The entire wedding has been planned out for four days which starts from November 12 and would end on November 16 with a grand wedding. The groom, Rajiv Reddy, is the son of a Hyderabad-based industrialist.
The entire function is not going to be in any 5-star hotel or extravagant farmhouse but in a pavilion resembling the Vijaya Vittala Temple of Hampi, in Bangalore. He has also gotten the entire Vijayanagara empire replicated at the Palace Grounds in Bengaluru, as he considers himself to be a reincarnation of King Krishnadevaraya. Some of the biggest art directors in Bollywood have come together to recreate Lotus Mahal, Krishnadevaraya’s palace and Mahanavami Dibba, for him.
He is getting his childhood home reconstructed, ‘Hale Mane’, from where he would hand over his daughter to the groom. The dining hall is also being constructed to look like the traditional village in Bellary, Karnataka.
In order to match the standards of this phenomenon, 30,000 guests are invited to the wedding. 1,500 luxurious rooms are booked in some of the finest hotels in Bengaluru and VIP guests are flown in, for which 15 helipads have been set up. Guest’s entertainment has also been kept in mind, with an expected Sonu Nigam’s wedding performance. Celebrities like Prabhu Deva, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and Priya Mani are also invited to the wedding.
However, BJP has issued an instruction for its leaders to skip the wedding, in relation to the recent demonetization by the government. They have informed their leaders to stay away from Big Fat Weddings for the coming months or so.
