The Ex-Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Kalikho Pul committed suicide at his residence in Itanagar. He briefly served as the chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh and was a congress rebel.
The 47-year-old Pul was found dead at the chief minister’s official residence, he allegedly hanged himself from the ceiling fan in the bedroom. Pul was yet to vacate the chief minister’s official residence.
As soon as the word of his death got out all the MLAs from the opposition party as well as ruling party, ministers, members of public and friends rushed to the chief minister’s official bungalow. The circumstances behind the death are still not known.
Mr. Pul took the oath as the CM of Arunachal on 19 February this year and he served for a brief time with the Supreme Court in July reinstating Nabam Tuki. Later Tuki made way for Pema Khandu and Khandu became the tenth Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh.
Pul was the leader of a group of dissident MLAs from Congress who protested against the CM Nabam Tuki early this year. Pul is survived by three wives and four children.
