Fire in Narela Factory

A deadly fire broke out in a building which was operated as a plastic factory in Delhi’s Narela Area on Wednesday at 5 pm. The search and rescue operations continued till Thursday midnight at the three storey plastic factory.

The fire started from the ground floor of the building and reached the warehouse on the 1st floor containing plastic glasses resulting in a dreadful situation.

At 9:45 pm when 40 firefighters were engaged in setting out the fire, a boiler exploded, trapping four workers and two firefighters in the building. Due to the explosion the building collapsed, resulting in the death of a worker Sanjay Kumar.

One worker and the two firefighters are still trapped in the debris and the National Disaster Response Team (NDRF) said that the chances of their survival are decreasing with every passing minute.They have urged the PWD engineers to give their inputs on the situation and help them saving the lives of the persons trapped in the building.

Satyender Jain, Delhi’s Health Minister was also spotted at the examining the situation with the officials on Thursday morning.

Sunil Kumar and Manjeet Dagar are the two firefighters trapped in the building. Their families are also present at the site and have complained that proper measures are not being taken by the authorities.

Assistant Commandant of the NDRF 8th Battalion, Dr. Mahasher Hussain said that a team of 45 people have been working continuously to save the persons trapped in the collapsed building since 1 am Thursday. A dog squad was also deployed at the location to track the trapped people in the debris but no success has come on that ground.

Only one body has been recovered till now and the teams deployed at the site are losing the hope for a successful mission.
