Efforts To Make Hindi An Official Language In The UN Are Made By The Govt. And 4 Other Stories.

1. The government is making efforts to make Hindi an official language in the UN.

External Affairs minister in her written response at Lok Sabha said that the government is making efforts in familiarising the world with Hindi and making it an official language in the United Nations. Sushma Swaraj was not present at Lok Sabha as she is undergoing a medical treatment.

2. A bill to alter SC and ST List Has Been Introduced In Lok Sabha.

A bill was introduced in Lok Sabha on Wednesday that sought the transfer of certain communities from Scheduled Caste (SC) to Scheduled Tribe (ST), as well as to include new communities in the Scheduled Tribe list. The bill was introduced by Tribal Affair Minister Jual Oram, and it included the transfer of ‘Bhogta’ community from Jharkhand from SC list to ST list. It also included certain communities from Assam, Tripura, Tamil Nadu and Chhatisgarh.

3. Rs 62 Lakhs in new notes seized in Pune.

Pune police seized Rs 67 Lakhs from a car in Wakad area, out of which Rs 62 Lakhs were in new currency notes of Rs 2000 and the remaining were in Rs 100 denomination. The car, with four passengers, was coming from Mumbai through the Pune-Mumbai expressway, where police checked their car and found cash. The incident occurred on Tuesday midnight and the seized amount has been submitted to the Income Tax Department.

4. Rajya Sabha adopted the Right of a Person With Disabilities Bill, 2014, on Wednesday.

The bill was referred to the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and is considered to be a big advancement amidst all the tension in the house. While the earlier bill included 7 types of disabilities, the number has been increased to 21 now. Parkinson’s disease and disability due to acid attack have been recognised in the new bill, and discrimination towards the people with disability can earn a two-year jail term.

5. Amazon Prime Video has been launched in India at Rs 499 per year.

Amazon Prime Video is available for people living in India at subscription charges of Rs 499 per year, the same package in the United States costs $99 per year. The platform has tied up with some of the biggest studios in the country like, Dharma Studio, Yashraj Studio, Vishesh Films of Mahesh Bhatt and T-Series for local content. All India Bakchod (AIB) is the first one to launch an original series for the Indian audience and it is a comedy-drama called ‘Ministry’.
