An earthquake jolted the Indian capital and its neighbouring region on Monday. The high-intensity earthquake was witnessed in Delhi-NCR for nearly 1-2 minutes, which was measured at 7.7 magnitude on Richter scale today. It was even felt in other parts of India.
The earthquake was witnessed in regions ranging from Pakistan to Jammu and Kashmir to Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.
Katra and Vaishno Devi also felt the tremors of the earthquake and created panic in pilgrims.
Delhi metro was stopped for few minutes following quake reporting.
On October 10, in the national capital a medium-intensity earthquake measuring 3.0 magnitude was measured on the Richter scale.
Last time epicentre of the earthquake was located in Delhi-NCR and the depth of the tremor was 5 km.
At 1.40 AM across Delhi and its adjoining areas, the tremor was felt. However, there were no reports of loss of lives and damage to property.
Aftershocks are expected and people are advised to seek shelter and stay outside the buildings for their safety.
