Delhi Man Run Over By Delivery Van
What happens when a person is hit by a passing vehicle on a Delhi road? He bleeds to death. As inhuman as it may sound, that’s the sad truth. Putting “Dilwalon ki Dilli” to shame, an E-Rickshaw driver who was hit by a tempo was nonchalantly left to bleed to death at Subhash Nagar in West Delhi on Friday.
The CC T.V footage shows Matibool being hit by a tempo at 5.30 a.m. on Wednesday. The tempo driver comes around to check on him but leaves casually as he finds that the victim is not dead and still breathing. He does not call the ambulance or the cops. It was early morning and a whole day’s work waited for him. He did not have time to waste for a random e-rickshaw driver.

The complete footage last for about two hours. At the beginning when the victim lies on the road, bleeding, several people pass by without even as much as a second glance. An hour later a rickshaw puller stops and you almost feel that help is at hand, but there is more to the dance of apathy as the rickshaw puller takes Matibool’s mobile phone and coolly paddles away.
Finally at 7 am the police arrive and take Matibool to the hospital where he is declared dead due to excessive blood loss.
The hard working Matibool drove an e- rickshaw during the day and worked as a guard at night. He was on his way home after his night shift when he got hit. He was from Bengal. He probably has a family and kids depending on him for their daily bread. They would forever hold their angst or drown their sorrows in their own tears.
Meanwhile the police are looking for the tempo driver and the mobile phone thief. The passers-by are free to go along their blind existence which is as useless to them as it was for Matibool.
