Delhi Police: Majnu Operation Added a New Initiative Towards Crime Against Women
New Delhi police launched a new operation “Majnu” on saturday to minimize the rate of molestation held in public places on the capital .
The cops in Ghaziabad ‘punished young couple’s’ in parks this morning by making them do sit-ups .The case highlights the need for the upper judiciary to clarify that section 294(a) of the IPC does not cover couples sitting together in parks showing affection towards each other.
Delhi police will be visiting public places in civil Uniform for this Operation. The ‘operation’ includes travelling on DTC buses during morning and evening rush hours, visiting malls, public parks and areas around colleges located in south campus. As many as 652 cases of molestation were registered by the Delhi Police in 2012.
The operation is said to be one of the most innovative initiatives at checking crime against women by Delhi Police and teaching its enforcer a fairly unforgettable lesson in full public view.
