Delhi High Court: “As It Stands, We All Know This Country Is Being Run By God!”

One of the most dramatic lines that we’ve all come to hear from the realm of Bollywood is when by the side of the hospital bed with the patient reeling in agonising pain, the doctors and nurses stop giving medical treatment and turn to the relative whilst pointing to god. They say, “Ab Inhe Dawa Ki Nahin, Dua Ki Zaroorat Hai.” It literally means, he or she doesn’t need medicines; what is needed are blessings and wishes of god almighty!

In one of the more interesting statements from the Delhi High Court in lines with the existing Coronavirus situation in the country, it could be said, that something similar was issued by the venerable court of justice that had a parallel to the film world.

So the point is what exactly did the venerable Delhi High Court say on the ongoing COVID crisis in the country?

“As it stands, we all know the country is being run by god, “said the Delhi HC unhappy with the way its orders pertaining to free movement of medical oxygen were being executed in the country.

What one needs to remember is that, as on Thursday, i.e., April 22, 2021 the Delhi HC had already directed the Centre to ensure the allocation order as well as the MHA (Ministry of Home Affairs) order that allows for free movement of medical oxygen.

It appears that the Delhi HC is miffed about the fact that despite issuing clear instructions, there appears to be callousness or a lack of seriousness with which its orders are being adhered to with the blame resting with the Centre.

That being said, here are more pertinent details as published on the Indian Express with regards to the troubling Coronavirus situation (presently) in India:

With states accusing each other of blocking the passage of oxygen supply, the Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday ordered that there will be no restriction on the movement of medical oxygen between the states and the transport authorities shall be instructed to accordingly allow free inter-state and intra-state movement of oxygen-carrying vehicles.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister on Thursday held high-level meeting on oxygen supply and availability across India. In the meeting, he called for using innovative ways to provide oxygen support to health facilities.

That being said, there was another important development that took place on Thursday (April 22). It can be confirmed that the Supreme Court has also asked the Centre to institute a national policy where it comes to:

Issues related to-

Supply of oxygen

Essential drugs

Methods of Vaccination

Furthermore, if you take into account the way the pandemic has hurt the condition of the country in the recent days, then some troubling numbers spring to life. It is, therefore, important to note (as published by the Indian Express):

India reported over 3 lakh cases of the novel coronavirus on Thursday, the highest daily increase in infections the country has recorded in the pandemic so far. No country has recorded more cases in a single day. There were 2,104 deaths reported on the same day, another record for India. With 3,14,835 new cases, the total infections stand at 1,59,30,965. The toll, meanwhile, stands at 1,84,657.
