Dancer Shot Dead at a Wedding Party, The Dark Side of Indian Weddings

A 22-year old female dancer was shot dead at a wedding after she refused to dance with the groom’s brother. The episode took place in Bhatinda, Punjab when a drunk man shot her from close range after she denied the proposal. The convict is still on the run.

The woman was identified as Kulwinder Kaur and four people including the palace owner and two friends of the killer on run has been detained by the state police. They have been charged with murder, under the influence of alcohol. 21 bore loaded guns were recovered from the scene.

In the video, it is clearly seen that the other dancers continued to perform after Kulwinder Kaur was shot as everybody thought that she fell due to a health problem but, as soon as they got to know the reality the event went berserk.

Annie Raja, National Federation of Indian Women’s General Secretary said that the Government needs to implement preventive measures to tackle the rise of gun culture which has claimed many lives in recent years.

Firing gunshots is a customary practice in Indian weddings and many a time, reports of deaths caused by firing at a wedding, has taken the rounds in India.

The one thing that everyone should understand that marriage is a new beginning and customs like this bears a huge risk for all the attendees at the ceremony.

This is India, the biggest democracy and the fastest developing nation in the world, but, India is surely lacking on the humanity part. What is the use of being the biggest democracy, if a man can shoot anyone just because his ego got hurt?

We talk about Economy, we talk about terrorism but what about the vermins of our own society?

Is our judicial system this weak that these vermins can do whatever they want to?

We hope that whoever was behind this inhuman act, gets a punishment that he deserves and our Government sets an example in order to avoid any such happenings in the future.
