After several of India’s states went into a state of lockdown for a period of no fewer than a fortnight to a month, it was expected that things would improve, at least, somewhat for the month of April, in particular, dented a devastating blow to the country. The second grip of Coronavirus did, after all, lead to tens of thousands of deaths in a country that, let’s face it, wasn’t the best prepared to embrace such a hefty and harrowing challenge.
Now, that being said, while there’s been much respite specifically where it comes to the count of fatalities and the overall COVID cases, it does appear that all trouble hasn’t subsided for the country that has seen better days in the past.
That being said, let’s take into consideration as to what is happening in the regions of Maharashtra and Bangalore, the latter being the principal centre of IT, business and commerce in the state of Karnataka.
So what’s key to note is that Maharashtra has currently recorded as many as 9,350 new COVID cases. Now, this is when the lockdown has been eased up a bit with restaurants and salons operating at a certain restricted capacity.
But, at the same time, where one looks at Bangalore, the capital city of Karnataka, then there are no fewer than 10, 350 new COVID cases.
Overall, as a country-wide figure, India reported as many as 62,597 new COVID 19 cases from across various regions. This, however, also includes certain casualties. So the key question is- just how many deaths has India witnessed in the last one day?
To that end, it’s important to note, there have been around 2,726 demises in the country. On the other hand, Tamil Nadu reported in excess of 12,000 fresh COVID cases, the exact figure being- 12, 772 new cases.
That being said, here’s what prominent platform Business Standard had to report:
Tamil Nadu reported 12,772 new infections, followed by Maharashtra (8,129), Kerala (7,719), Karnataka (6,835), Andhra Pradesh (4,549), Delhi (131) and West Bengal (3,519).
The five most affected states by total cases are Maharashtra (5,917,121), Karnataka (2,771,969), Kerala (2,735,958), Tamil Nadu (2,366,493), Andhra Pradesh (1,814,393).
Furthermore, there have also been as many as 4 casualties in the western state of Gujarat.
In cities like Delhi, the national capital, the lockdown has been opened with the only restrictions that are still in place being in the case of shopping malls, gymnasiums, and spas. An important update, as on Monday, i.e., June 14, 2021 being that restaurants in the capital city have begun to operate on 50 per cent capacity.
But what about the world COVID update? Here is what you need to know:
Covid-19 is continuing to spread around the world, with more than 177 million confirmed cases and 3,827,272 deaths across nearly 200 countries recorded since China reported its first cases in December 2019. The US remains the worst-hit country with 34,334,181, followed by India, Brazil, France and Turkey.
Let’s just hope that the coming days are ones that are devoid of any harrowing troubles. The world, as it is, has been in peril danger from the onset of 2020. What we all need is a fine ending to a year that, despite the antidote to the virus, has brought about lakhs of deaths all around the world even in the most developed countries on the planet.
