Uri Attack: Mortal Remains Of The Martyred Soldiers Will be Taken To Their Hometown.

On Sunday Indian-administered Kashmir witnessed one of the deadliest attacks in more than two decades. It seems that one of the most intense geopolitical sagas has started and it’s not going to end soon. On Sunday, early morning some armed militants invaded an Indian army base in the garrison town of Uri which is about 102 kilometres far from Srinagar and killed 17 Indian soldiers.

Four militants were killed several hours later in a shootout with the Indian Army. No militant group has taken responsibility for the attack till now. The attack took place near the de facto border between India and Pakistan. The disputed region has been one of the deadliest regions since militant attacks began in Kashmir in 1989. This attack has put a fire between Pakistani-Indian relations yet again.

Seventeen soldiers were killed in the attack and 30 soldiers got injured when few militants stormed the Army camp in Uri. The mortal remains of the soldiers who died will be taken to their hometowns today.

The Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and Army chief General Dalbir Singh paid tribute to the 17 martyred soldiers today.

The chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti also expressed her grief and paid tribute to the  brave soldiers. She said that the attack was aimed to trigger fresh violence and create a war like situation.

Ms Mufti also visited the injured soldiers at the 92 Base Hospital of the Army.
