BSF Soldier Killed, Seven Injured in Cross Border Firing at LOC

A BSF soldier was killed in a heavy cross-border firing started by Pakistan at Rajouri District of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. Four soldiers and three other BSF jawans were also reported injured during this ceasefire violation along LOC.

A senior BSF Official said that Pakistan resorted to heavy mortar shellings and automatic gunfire in the wee hours of Monday morning at Manjakot sector of Rajouri district, killing a BSF soldier and leaving seven injured.

The BSF head constable, Rai Singh, got injured yesterday and scummed to his injuries on Monday morning. Singh, a resident of Jhajjar, had a wife and three children to support. One of the other three injured BSF soldiers, is also battling with death in a local Hospital and doctors have reported his condition ‘critical’.

The four Army soldiers got injured in another ceasefire violation at Nowshera Sector of Jammu & Kashmir.

“The firing is still underway and Indian Troops are giving a befitting response”, a BSF Official added.

The firing started on Saturday when Pakistani troops resorted to ceasefire violation in Nowshera sector and in the afternoon, they targeted Indian posts and civilian areas of Sunderbani sector.

Since Indian Army carried out Surgical Strikes on seven militant posts in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir on 29th September, a total of 26 Indians have died, including 14 military personnel fighting along the Line of Control (LOC) and International Borders (IB).
